The Spanish island of Mallorca has a lot to offer, but during our stay at Can Ferrereta we struggled finding reasons to leave the flawless and picturesque environment. There was simply too much to do, and see, within the confines of the beautiful 32-room boutique property opened just a few months before our arrival.
The perfect day at Can Ferrereta involves waking up early enough to grab a good table in the stunning courtyard for the best endless breakfast, you’ll be amazed it’s included in your room rate. You’ll linger there a while, ordering at your heart’s content before drifting over through the cobblestone archway into the sunny pool area filled with Mediterranean plants, cypresses, olive trees, jasmine and purple bougainvillea. Curling up here on a comfortable lounge chair with a good book could lead to hours of uninterrupted relaxation. You can choose to swim here, or if you find it too sunny you can retreat to the indoor spa and pool for a change of scene. You’ll enjoy a late lunch at all-day poolside restaurant and bar La Fresca, and perhaps return to the pool for some additional laps before heading up to your room to change for dinner.
When you return downstairs to Ocre, in the same space you had breakfast, you’ll find it totally transformed into one of the most romantic and intimate dinner settings imaginable. Back in your room for the rest of the evening, you’ll enjoy the rich textures, light fabrics, and dark furniture accompanied by a spa-like bathroom. Can Ferrereta is nestled far off the beaten path, on a small island in an even smaller city called Santanyi, about 50 minutes from the Palma airport. If you have intentions of seeing certain sights on Mallorca, you’ll need to be very committed and determined, or you may just find those plans going out the window in favor of another hour or two in paradise.
